Kettlebell Training Workshops 2010
Want to learn how to train properly with Kettlebells? |
I now run 3 types of Kettlebell Training Workshops: Private workshops for individuals or couples at my gym in Pontefract or in one of the local parks. These are held between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday although very occasionally weekends may be available.
Private group workshops for groups of friends or work colleagues who are of similar fitness abilitiy. These can be held at a venue of your choice (supplied by the group).
These workshops are ideal for Personal Trainers or Fitness instructors who would like to incorporate kettlebells in to their training. For these workshops I require a minimum of 6 participants for venues in the Yorkshire region or 10 participants outside of Yorkshire (but still in the North). I will travel anywhere in mainland UK for a workshop but will require a minimum of 15 participants. A 50% deposit will be required in advance for all groups to confirm the booking. For larger groups or if you would like to book several workshops together, please contact me as discounts may be available. Large public group workshops. These workshops are held around the Yorkshire area in other gyms or halls and are open to the general public. All places must be booked and paid for in advance as they fill up very quickly. Unfortunately due to time restrictions I can only run about 4 of these workshops each year. I currently have no public workshop places available for this year.
About the workshops. The purpose of these workshops is to give each participant the knowledge and confidence to perform the basic, core kettlebell exercises and routines safely and effectively, whether at home or in a gym. Kettlebell training is a superb form of training and there really is nothing like it for producing lasting results quickly. However, as with all forms of free weight training the risk of injury with kettlebells when used incorrectly can be quite high. Learning to use your kettlebell properly from an experienced, fully qualified instructor is the only way to guarantee that you get the results you expect and that you do so safely. Content of the workshops. The content of the workshops is suitable for everyone, young or old, male or female but I will tailor the intensity of the session to suit the group. Each workshop will last approximately 3 hours but again this is flexible and we will work at a rate that is comfortable for the group and will take breaks as and when required. Introduction and gradual warm up. The warm up is absolutely essential for a session like this. During the day you will be using every single muscle in your body and we have to make sure that you are thoroughly stretched and mobile to avoid over stretching and injury. Exercise technique - starting with the Double Swing. We will go through 20 classic kettlebell exercises starting with the double and single handed swing. Pretty much everything else comes from the swing and getting that movement right is the first key to kettlebell training. Although some of the other exercises are more basic and can be mastered quickly, without perfect form for the swing you will never be able to perform the endurance or high repetition routines. All of the exercises that we go through on the day are also in my Kettlebells - The Basics training manual and each participant will be given a copy of this manual before the day of the workshop. Each exercise is described in detail with colour photos for you to use as a reference guide. Workouts. And this is where it all comes together. We will go through 2 full workouts, both single and double handed. Again you are not expected to complete every exercise of both workouts and some people will undoubtedly sit out of one or both and that is absolutely fine. Cool down and stretch. By now you will probably be ready for home, but again we will take the time to cool down and to stretch out properly. Although it may not feel like it at the time, stretching out after a session like this really will make all the difference, particularly to the way that you feel in the morning!
Prices: For all of my workshops, regardless of the number of participants I can supply the kettlebells to use on the day. There are 2 prices listed for each workshop place, the first is for the workshop only where I will supply a bell if required for use during the session only, the second is for a new kettlebell supplied by me that you may use during the session and then keep for yourself (8, 12 or 16kg). All participants may also purchase further kettlebells on the day at heavily discounted prices and will be sent a list of the bells available with their booking confirmation.
